JS body for action against those responsible glitches in PM’s flight

Dhaka – A parliamentary watchdog on Monday recommended taking punitive action after investigation against those responsible for technical glitches in the VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. UNB news agency reported
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry came up with the recommendations at its 22nd meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan in the chair.
Following the technical glitches in the aircraft, the flight of the national flag carrier had to make an emergency landing in Turkmenistan on the Prime Minister’s way to Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, on Sunday.
The flight left Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan after a delay of over four hours following necessary repair of the aircraft.
Besides, the parliamentary watchdog suggested the government mete out tougher punishment to those responsible for the delay in the landing of the aircraft carrying the Prime Minister at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in June last.
At the meeting, the committee scrutinised the Civil Aviation Authority Bill 2016 and finalised its report to place it in the House.
Committee members Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Prof Md Ali Ashraf and Tanveer Imam attended the meeting.
