Dhaka – Bangladeshi Grand Master Ziaur Rahman of Saif Sporting Club earned full two points in the 16th Delhi International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament beating Kumar Gaurav of India in the 2nd round match held in the Indian capital city of New Delhi on Wednesday.Tahsin Tajwar Zia earned one point while Mohammad Abul Kashem and Mezanur Rahman was yet to bag any point playing two matches.In the day’s 2nd round matches, Tahsin beat Kant Rupesh of India, Kashem lost to CM Nikhil Magizhnan of India while Mezan lost to Soham Kamotra of India.Earlier in the 1st round matches on Tuesday, Zia beat Kavinda Akila of Sri Lanka, Tahsin lost to Nayak Rajesh while Mezan lost to WIM Srija Seshadri of India.A total of 264 players, including 27 grandmasters, one woman grandmaster, 24 International Masters and 5 women International Masters, are taking part in the event.In the category B rating event, Shahidul Islam, Jodunath Biswas and Tipu Sultan earned 3 points each after the 5th round matches at the same venue while Akmal Hossain Khan earned 2.5 points.In all, 783 players from eight countries are participating in the B category rating event.UNB news agency
