Govt. carrying out false propaganda to cover up their failure: BNP

BNP yesterday alleged that the government resorted to arresting the party’s leaders and activists to cover up its failures to maintain the law and order by carrying out fictitious campaign against them.“The government has been filing fabricated cases against BNP leaders and activists and arresting them by carrying out false propaganda to cover up its failure to maintain law and order and divert attention of the people elsewhere,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a statement.

The statement was sent to media houses shortly after the arrest of two Savar BNP leaders protesting and condemning the duo. He demanded unconditional release of the detained leaders.

Earlier in the morning, the police arrested former BNP lawmaker of Dhaka-13 constituency Dewan Mohammad Salauddin from Paribagh area in Dhaka and Savar municipality mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah from his residence in Savar.

He said the government is doing all these to terrify the politicians so that they cannot participate in political activists.

“They are hatching conspiracies to give one-party rule a deep root in the country. BNP executive committee member and former MP Dr Dewan Salahuddin and Savar poura mayor Refat Ullah have been arrested as part of conspiracies to arrest the BNP leaders and activists in a bid to interrupt the party reorganization activities across the country,” he added.

The BNP leader expressed grave concern over the deterioration of law and order held the government responsible for it.

He alleged that the law and order has been deteriorated and the law enforcers let upon against the BNP leaders and activists instead of using them to maintain the law and order.

He called upon the government to return to healthy politics.

Earlier on Saturday, he condemned the bomb attacks at Hosni Dalan and demanded holding a neutral investigation into the incidents to bring the perpetrators to justice.
