Govt. has failed to control price hike: Fakhrul

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday criticized the government for its failure to control price hikes of essential commodities before the month of Ramzan.“The prices of commodities did not come within the reach of people rather was increasing day by day. The common people are suffering much for skyrocketing prices of the essentials,” he said while talking to reporters at Motijheel area.
He alleged that an evil quarter in association of government has increased the price of essentials ahead of Ramzan and plundered huge amount of money.
The BNP leader reiterated that they would intensify their movement under the leadership of party chairperson Khaleda Zia to restore democracy by compelling the government to holding the general election under a neutral government.
He accused the government of creating discrimination in the society following increasing of wealth of a section of people connected with the ruling party.
Fakhrul was with Khaleda Zia during her distribution of cooked-food among destitute in different areas in the capital for the second day.
The BNP organised the programme to mark the 35th death anniversary of late president Ziaur Rahman.
The BNP chairperson started distribution of food from Jorepukur Math at Khilgaon around noon followed by nine areas including Mothertak, Motijheel, Gendaria, Dayaganj and Dolaipar.
She concluded the distribution at Shampur around 3:30pm and went to BNP central office at Naya Paltan.
Mirza Abbas, Selima Rahman, Abdus Salam and Shama Obaed, among others, also accompanied Khaleda during the programme.
Khaleda is scheduled to distribute food today to conclude her 3-day cooked-food distribution programme announced earlier.-STAFF REPORTER
