The government’s insincerity, mismanagement and negligence caused the train-covered van crash inside the Inland Container Depot (ICD) of Kamalapur Railway Station killing six people, says BNP.
“This fatal accident has again proved that the government has totally failed to ensure the security of people’s lives. Accidents these days have become a routine affair due to their (govt’s) mismanagement,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He said, “Their (govt) mismanagement, negligence and lack of accountability have reached a worrisome level …now the authorities of service-providing government departments and institutions are unconcerned about their duties which cause regular loss of lives in frequent accidents.”
Fakhrul made the allegations at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
He deplored that only two days back a little boy, Jihad, met the tragic end of his life as he fell into a deep pipe of an abandoned water pump, also because of the negligence of the authorities concerned.
The BNP leader said there is no respite from accidents on roads and rail and waterways due to the utter negligence and carelessness of the government about ensuring public safety. “We condemned the government’s inaction in this regard.”
At least six people were killed and nine others seriously injured as a covered van crashed into a moving train on a level-crossing inside the Inland Container Depot (ICD) of Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday. The BNP spokesman expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in the incident.
He prayed for salvation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Fakhrul also wished early recovery of those injured in the fatal crash. – UNB
