Govt. order closure of all “Peace” school branches in BD


The government has ordered the closure of Peace International School and all branches of Peace School across the country immediately for their controversial activities.The Education Ministry issued separate notices in this regard on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Education Ministry urged the Home Ministry to take steps for closing the activities of unauthorised Peace School, and directed the Dhaka Education Board for canceling the approval of Lalmatia Peace International School following their controversial activities.
Dhaka Education Board’s school inspector ATM Mainul Hossain said following the government’s order, the registration of the Peace International School has been cancelled.
Meanwhile, an Education Ministry official, wishing anonymity, said they have no information on how many branches of Peace School are running in the country as those have no approval.
On July 26, the government ordered the complete shutdown of Darul Ihsan University and outer campuses of other private universities amid growing engagement in militant activities by a section of students of some private universities.
Besides, the government stopped the transmission of Peace TV, a satellite channel which used to broadcast the speeches of controversial preacher Zakir Naik, in the country on July 10.
