Govt plot allotment to war criminals cancelled: Minister


The government has cancelled the plots allotted by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to war crimes accused.Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters after a meeting with the executives of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) at the secretariat on Wednesday.

However, the minister said, if any war crimes accused provided his plot to any developer company, the company concerned will get its due share while the government will get the rest of it.Earlier in the day, Rajuk signed a deal with the Standard Chartered Bank.According to the deal, all the owners of plots, allotted by Rajuk, will get loan from the SCB at 8.5 percent interest rate which has to be repaid within 25 years.Rajuk chairman Bazlul Karim Chowdhury and CEO of SCB Abrar Anwar signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
