Green activists at a discussion in the city on Tuesday urged the authorities concerned to introduce alternative management of sacrificial animals waste during Eid-ul-Azha considering the public health, economy and environment.   They said around 20 million of animals will be sacrificed during upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The time has come to rethink how the wastes of sacrificial animals could be managed to minimise pollution in the city.   Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA) organised the discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity.   POBA chairman Abu Naser Khan, general secretary Kamal Pasha Chowdhury and joint secretary Hafizur Rahman Maina, Engr M Abdus Sobhan and president of Modern Club Abul Hasnat, among others, spoke at the meeting.   Abu Naser Khan said the authorities should introduce modern waste management of sacrificial animals like Saudi Arabia.   He said the city corporations, local government bodies and the Islamic Foundation under the Religious Affairs Ministry can play a vital role in managing the wastes of sacrificial animals. – UNB
