Members of the Coordination Committee of the special guerilla force of the Liberation War of 1971 that comprised members of NAP-Communist Party-Chhatra Union on Saturday voiced dissatisfaction over dropping their names from the latest freedom fighter list made by the Liberation War Affairs Ministry.
They vented their anger at a rally held at Central Shaheed Minar in the city.Oikya NAP president Pankaj Bhattachrya who had been a member of the special guerilla force read out a written statement at the rally.
He said their names were included in the gazette which was published in 2013. “But the gazette was rescinded when Awami League assumed power again in 2014,” he said.
Observing that the cancellation of the gazette notification is disgraceful and this has weakened the solidarity of the pro-liberation forces, he demanded reinstatement of the gazette.
Pankaj Bhattachrya demanded that the government include the names of genuine freedom fighters in the freedom fighter list as well as recognise them with due honour and dignity.
He also noted that all pro-liberation forces have to take united steps leaving all limitations to build democratic, non-communal and prosperous Bangladesh.
The statement also strongly demanded trial of all war criminals as well as implementation of the verdicts.
It called upon people from all walks of life to join the fight to change their fate.
CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim also spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that terminated in front of the Jatiya Press Club. – UNB
