Three cases were filed on Sunday against some 1,500 BNP men, including
former State Minister for Education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, in
connection with violence during Saturday’s daylong hartal in Kachua
Sub-inspectors M Shahjahan Miah, Mohammad Zahir and Mohammad Baten
filed the cases against 175 named and 1,300-1,400 unnamed BNP
activists with Kachua Police Station in the early hours on charges of
attacking cops, preventing them from discharging their duties and
vandalising vehicles during the shutdown.
About 20 people, including eight cops, were injured when BNP activists
clashed with law enforcers during the hartal in Kachua upazila on
Local BNP enforced the shutdown protesting the death of upazila unit
vice-president Delwar Hossain Dulal, 43, in jail under police custody
on October 17.
Milon was made accused in all three cases, confirmed additional police
super M Quamrul Islam.
Meanwhile, two BNP men arrested earlier were shown arrested in the
cases and sent to jail on Sunday, said officer-in-charge of the police
station Alamgir Hossain Majumder. -UNB
