The High Court on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned to ensure adequate gas pressure in the household gas connections in the capital.
An HC court bench compromising Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice MH Nurul Huda Jaigirdar passed the order after a hearing on a writ petition by six lawyers of behalf of Human Rights Peace for Bangladesh.
Advocate Manzil Morshed argued for the petitioners during the hearing.
The writ petition was filed earlier on November 1, 2011 following a newspaper report about the suffering of the city dwellers due to inadequate gas pressure in residential areas.
Later on March 13, 2012, the HC issued a rule to set up a compressor at Ashuganj to increase the gas pressure.
Energy Secretary, Finance secretary, Planning Secretary, Petrobangla Chairman, Gas Transmission Company Ltd managing director, Titas Gas and Petroleum Corporation managing director and National Consumer Rights Protection Department deputy director were made respondents to the rule.
