The High Court (HC) yesterday fixed November 9 for hearing on the rule issued by it earlier asking the government to explain why the BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir`s permanent bail should not b granted in three vandalism and arson cases.The HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman fixed the date while the matter came up in the daily cause list for hearing.
Earlier, on November 2, after rejecting a petition filed by the BNP leader seeking extension of his bail period, the Appellate Division of SC directed the BNP leader to surrender before the trial court in connection with the cases.
The ape court also directed the HC to dispose of its rule issued regarding the Fakhrul’s bail within two weeks.
As per the apex court order, Fakhrul surrender before the trial court on Tuesday and sought bail in the cases, but the trial court sent Mirza Fakhrul in jail after rejecting his bail pleas.
The cases were filed with Paltan and Matijheel police stations in Janruary this year during the anti-government movements of BNP-Jamaat across the country.
