Hearing on indictment of 63 Bnp leaders deferred

A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred the hearing on charge framing against 63 leaders and activists of BNP including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir until September 15 in a case filed for burning a vehicle and vandalism in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of the capital.
Magistrate Alamgir Kabir of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka deferred the indictment hearing following a time petition of defense counsel Joynul Abedin Mesbah. The defense lawyer sought time as Fakhrul could not appear to the court due to his illness.According to the case statement, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station’s
Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin filed the case for sabotage in the area during a shutdown on December 9, 2012.
On January 12, 2014, SI Jahurul Islam of the police station submitted the charge sheet to the court against the 63 BNP men, including Mirza Fakhrul and Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed.  – Special Correspondent
