Dhaka – A Hindu priest has been killed in Jhenidah, the murder resembling similar assassination another Hindu priest in the same district last month.
Shyamaanda Das , 64, was serving the Radha Modan temple in Uttar Kastrasghra village at Sadar Upazila for the last three years.“Shyamaanda was picking flowers for puja outside the temple when three assailants approached him on a motorcycle and hacked him down” Subol Chandro Gosh said.Hasan Hafizur Rahaman, OC of Jhenidah sadar Police Station, said he was preparing morning prayers with flowers at the temple at around 6.00 am and that time three young people came by a motor bike and killed him with machetes and fled away. He was immediately taken to Jhenidah sadar Hospital but duty doctors declared him death.

Unb adds: Three bike-riding miscreants killed Shyama Nanda Das Babaji,65, an attendant of Modhupur Kastsagra Radha Madan Gopal Moth at North Kastasagra village in Sadar upazila of Jhenidah district early Friday in the same style as in other such killgs.
Hasan Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of sadar police station, said three miscreants riding a motorcycle intercepted Shyama Nanda while he was plucking flowers for worship from beside a road near the monastery around 5:30am and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later he was rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 6am.
Shyama Nanda, hailing from Chaulia village in Narail district, had been serving for the monastery for the past several years, said police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Superintendent of Police Altaf Hossain visited the spot.
The incident took place three weeks after the killing of a Hindu priest, Ananda Kumar Ganguly, 66, by unidentified miscreants in the same fashion in Karatipara area of Sadar upazila of the district on June 7.
