Dhaka – Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi is being observed in the country today commemorating the birth of Great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) 1,443 years ago on this day of the month of Rabiul Awal with divine blessings for the mankind.
The Muslims across the country held special prayers and staged colourful street marches to mark the day which is also the day of ‘ofat (departure)’ of the Prophet (PBUH).
Various religious, socio-political and cultural organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country marking the day.President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, on the occasion greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world.
BNP Chairperson Begum Kahleda Zia also issued separate messages on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi. The day is a public holiday.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private television channels as well as radio stations are airing special programmes, while newspapers published supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
Meanwhile, Islamic Foundation is holding a fortnight-long programme including a ‘book fair’ at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the occasion of the Miladunnabi.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman yesterday inaugurated the programme on the east side of the mosque. The book fair will remain open from 9am to 8pm everyday.
The other programme includes waz mahfil, seminar, Islamic calligraphy, poster and book exhibition on the Prophet (PBUH), book fair, qirat and hamd-naat competition for the students and discussion meetings.
Besides, different mosques, madrasas and various religious organisations in the capital and elsewhere across the country have also arranged milad mahfil on the occasion.
Jatiya Press Club organized a doa mahfil and discussion after Asr prayers on the day.
Dhaka City unit of Awami League has also held a milad and doa mahfil at its party office on Bangabandhu Avenue at 4 pm.
Like other organizations, BNP and Jatiyabadi Ulema Dal also organized a milad mahfil at BNP headquarters in capital’s Naya Paltan area after Asr prayers today.
Torikate Mawla Group, Bangladesh, held a seminar and milad-mahfil at the north gate of Hosni Dalan in the old part of the capital.
Islami Andolan Bangladsh organised a dawatunnabi discussion meeting at their Palan city office premises. IAB secretary general Principal Yunus Ali told the meeting that Muslims can regain their past glory by adhering to the ideals cherished by their religion and its Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The discussion meeting was presided over by IAB dhaka unit president Moulana ATM Hemaytuddin.
Islami Oilya Jote and Bangladesh Nezam-e-Islami chief Mulana Abdul Latif Nizami said that the ideals ofd Islam can be established by practicing those, not just making big remarks about the prophet.
Ashekan Maizvandari Association also organized various programme including rally and discussion to mark the day on city’s Shahjahanpur Railway Maidan.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Primary and Mass-Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman Fijar and BNP leader Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Maizvandar Darbar Sharif Peer Hazrat Maulana Syed Mujibul Bashar Maizvandari, former lawmaker Advocate Khan Dipu Sultan, among others, took part in the discussion.
Nazrul Academy also organized a discussion on the holy Miladunnanbi. – News Desk
