Hot spell across Bangladesh continues

Dhaka – A hot spell has been sweeping across the country, including capital Dhaka, over the last couple of days following the storms and rains caused by a nor’wester.
The situation is worse in rural areas, particularly in the northern regions of the country, as people have to spend more time in their field for agricultural activities.Day labourers and rickshaw pullers in city areas have been seen to continue their works with difficulties in the scorching hot weather.
City preferred to stay inside their houses in the weekend.
On the other hand, the heat brings some extra-income for small vendors of sugarcane, lemon juice, cold drinks and coconuts.
According to the Met office website, mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Noagaon, Dinajpur and Sayedpur and it may continue.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Rajshahi, 39.2 degrees Celsius.
The highest temperature in Dhaka was recorded 34.6 degrees Celsius till 6pm on Saturday, the Met Office website added.
