Police recovered the slaughtered body of a housewife kept in a sack from Naghdora village under Tarakanda upazila of the district this morning.
The victim was identified as Aysha Akhtar 23, wife of Manik Miah, a primary school teacher of Rampur village of Tarakanda.Police arrested Manik Miah, an assistant teacher of Rampur Govt. Primary School and his second wife Shilpi Akhtar 22.
Quoting family sources, Officer-in-Charge of Tarakanda Police Station Mazharul Haque said Aysha went missing from her house from Thursday evening. Family members searched for Aysha but could not find her trace. Later,Aysha’s father Alaluddin informed police on the following day.
Alaluddin also lodged a complaint with Tarakanda Police Station against six persons including Manik, Shilpi and her younger brother Quiyyum Miah. Police arrested Manik and Shilpi on Saturday and interrogated them.During interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the killing of Aysha on Thursday night and said her body was kept in a sack near Shilpi’s house at Naghdora village.Police said, Manik had married Aysha of his village Rampur in 2010. Manik had also a love affair with one of his students Shilpi of adjacent Naghdora village and married her in the same year.Aysha did not bear any child but Shilpi is a mother of a boy, police said.Following the confessional statement of the arrested police recovered the body of Aysha and sent that to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.(BSS)
