The 4th death anniversary of celebrated fiction writer, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed is being observed today (Tuesday).
Humayun Ahmed’s two younger brothers Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Ahsan Habib along with their other family members and relatives offered prayers at his graveyard in Nuhash Polli of Gazipur and paid homage by placing wreath.
Different socio-cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.
A quran khawani will be held at Nuhash Polli, the most favourite retreat of the popular writer, after Johr prayers.
There will be also an orphan feeding programme there.
Volunteer organisation ‘Himu Paribahan’ will organise a seminar, blood donation camp, and essay and painting competition on Humayun Ahmed.
It will also distribute leaflets among people to create awareness about cancer.
Meanwhile, Facebook group ‘Humayuner Vubhan’ will organise a trip to Nuhash Polli from Shahbagh in the city to encourage people to read the writings of Humayun Ahmed.
Besides, a theatre troupe named ‘Mad Theatre’ will stage their production ‘Naddio Natim’ adopted from the novel ‘K Kotha Koy’ by the late legendary writer at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Humayun Ahmed died on July 19, 2012 at Bellevue Hospital, New York, at the age of 64 after a nine-month battle against cancer, reports UNB.
