Dhaka – Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team conceded a 42-run defeat (D/L method) against Sri Lanka in their 3rd and last Super League match at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo on Sunday.In the day’s match, sent in to bat first, Sri Lanka scored 197 for 9 in 50 overs, including AC Jayangani’s half century of 84 off 114 balls that witnessed eight boundaries and one over boundary.GWHM Perera scored 32 runs while MDN Hansika (19), PM Weerakkody (10) MADD Surangika (12) and KDU Prabodhani (12 not out) were the other double figure scorers for the side.Salma Khatun captured three wickets for 18 runs while Suraiya Azmin, Panna Ghosh, Khadija Tul Kubra, Rumana Ahmed and Shaila Sharmin took one wicket each for 22,39,32, 35 and 11 runs respectively  for the visitors.Sri Lanka, who had set a target of 198, revised by the D/L method for Bangladesh, who needed to be 111 runs in 21 overs, fell short by 42 runs. Chasing 111-run target, Bangladesh women collected 68 runs for 5 in their stipulated 21 overs where Shaila Sharmin (21 not out) and Nigar Sultana (24) were the double figure scorers.KDU Prabodhani and SIP Fernando bagged two wickets each for 14 and 16 runs respectively while I Ranaweera took one for 17 runs for the hosts.But it was the must-win game with better net run rate for Bangladesh to set their berth of the final-eight of the ICC Women’s World Cup beginning on June 26 in England.Bangladesh started the Super League with a seven-wicket victory against Ireland Women while lost to India by 9 wickets in the 2nd match.UNB agency
