Large-scale promotion and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is very important towards making the banking services time-fitting and client-friendly in the present era of globalization, said Md Awal Khan.
“We have enormous opportunities of infusing dynamism into the banking activities through best uses of ICT,” added Awal Khan, Managing Director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB).
He was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day training course titled “Use of Internet and E-mail” at RAKUB’s ICT Division Computer Laboratory on Friday as chief guest.
A total of 18 zonal managers and two divisional audit officers of RAKUB are taking part in the course.
ICT Division of the bank organized the course with the main thrust of making the zonal managers and other officers concerned competent and efficient in internet and e-mail operation and related other computer software and its applications.
With Ataur Rahman, Principal of RAKUB Training Institute, in the chair, General Manager (Operation) Sazammul Islam and Deputy General Manager (ICT Division) Mijanur Rahman also spoke.
RAKUB, headquartered in Rajshahi, has been running its banking business in all the 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions targeting the farmers and their other sub-sectors.
Managing Director Awal Khan asked the participants to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to brighten the image of the bank along with taking it ahead successfully.
“You have to build yourselves as competent bankers through the best uses of the knowledge likely to be acquired from the training,” said Awal Khan. There should be devotion towards improving living and livelihood condition of the public in general and the farmers in particular, reports BSS, Rajshahi.
