India & Bangladesh: Bound by art

Dhaka: The prize distribution programme of art competition “India@Bangladesh” was held at the Institute of Fine Arts on Tuesday.
Young and talented art students were honoured for their creations in a ceremony held at the IFA’s Zainul Gallery.
The function was followed by the inauguration of an exhibition of the paintings and a reception hosted by Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla.UNB News Agency Reported.Shringla said the pictures displayed at the exhibition express the cordial relationship between Bangladesh-India, and thanked the organizers.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor A A M S Arefin Siddique was also present at the programme. He said that when a man cannot give vent to his talent, he becomes violent and furious.
“We cannot deny the Indian contribution in our liberation war. The relationship with India is always a symbol of friendship,” added the VC. The best three pictures will be kept at the India High Commission. The paintings of the competition have been put on display for the next four days. The exhibition will continue till 20th August from 11am-7pm. The High Commission of India, in association with Dhaka University, organised an art competition titled ‘India@Bangladesh’ for young and talented art students from seven universities and specialised art institutions at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University from August 11-13.
