Indian travel pass for enclave residents on 7-8 Sept

The Indian authorities will issue travel pass for the residents of former 111 Indian enclaves inside Bangladesh to cross the border. After the historic land transfer the residents of the 162 enclaves started a new life with their new identity as citizens.
Nearly 55 thousands inhabitants of 162 enclaves inside India and Bangladesh lived a subhuman life without any civic rights for the last 68 years. Their stateless life has come to an end through the implementation of the LBA treaty on 31th July of the current year.The residents of the enclaves were given an opportunity to choose their citizenship for India or Bangladesh. Some 979 people from 111 former Indian enclaves inside Bangladesh gave choice for Indian nationality but after few days many of them have changed their earlier decision and expressed their desire to stay in Bangladesh.
A delegation of Indian government would issue them travel pass on 7-8 September at the respective enclaves sources said. After getting the travel pass they will cross the boarder through Haldibari-Banglabandha of Panchagor,Burimari-Changrabandha  of Lalmonirhat and Shahebgonj-Bagbandha of kurigram district within  30 November of this year.
When contacted the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kurigram told journalists that all arrangements have been done and ‘we are ready to see off the former enclave residents who have opted to go to India.’ After taking the travel pass they will leave Bangladesh through three check posts. – News Desk
