Injured quota protester Tarikul sent to Dhaka for treatment

Rajshahi, July 8 – Tarikul Islam Tarek who was attacked by some BCL leaders and activists on Rajshahi University (RU) campus in Quota reform movement has been transferred to Dhaka for his better treatment. After the medical examinations on duty Doctor, Sayed Rahman referred him to transfer to Dhaka.
After the passing of 7 days of grievous injury of Tarikul Islam, no improvement has been observe d in his broken leg.
Dr. Sayed Ahmed said, I found no improvement of his health. His leg and Waist’s bones are severely damaged. He needs surgery in his leg. He was transferred to the National orthopedic Hospital.
Collegues of Tarikul said, his health shows no improvement and he was transferred to Dhaka for surgery.
Fatema Khatun, younger sister of Tarikul said, five thousands taka needed daily for his treatment and it has been misery for his family. Besides his two brothers and one sister are studying at different levels and it is a burdewn for his farmer father.
Noted, on July 2 Tarikul was pitilessly beaten up a gang university BCL members at university main gate for his role in the quota reform movement and this led to the serious injuries.
Meanwhile, protesting the attack on quota reform movement leaders and activists by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of ruling Awami League, the progressive student alliance of Rajshahi University (RU) unit submitted a memorandum to pro vice chancellor with four point demands on Sunday.
The memorandum was submitted at the pro-vice-chancellor office around 12.30pm. Their demands are to stop repression by BCL men and law enforcers on students, ensuring democratic environment on the campus, bearing the cost treatment of the injured leaders and activists of quota reform movement, stopping terrorism and occupation of campus by BCL men.
Among others, convener of progressive student alliance of RU unit Mohabbot Hossain Milon, president of Socialist student front Liton Dash, president of Bangladesh Chatra Union MA Shakil Hossain and Biplobi Chatra Moitree’s President Fidel Monir were present here.
RU pro vice chancellor Professor Dr Ananda Kumar Saha said, “Our vice-chancellor sir is now out of campus and I would send him the message on the concerned the matter and he would take a final decision.”- RU Correspondent
