Inter-Varsity Football: IUB to play Textiles University Friday

Dhaka – Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) to play Bangladesh Textiles University in one of the three opening day matches of the Walton First Inter-University Football Tournament, to be known Faraz Challenge Cup, beginning on Friday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.Prime Asia University will meet Stamford University at 9 am while East West University face AUBAT University at 10 am in the other opening day’s fixture, both at the Kamalapur Stadium here. Former footballers’ platform Sonali Otit Club and Green University of Bangladesh are jointly organising the tournament for the smooth mental growth and proper entertainment of youth and students as well as keep them away from drugs and terrorist activities.
President of the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Safwan Sobhan will inaugurate the 20-team tournament at the Banglabandhu National Stadium in the afternoon. Managing Director of Hameem Group AK Azad will also present as special guest.Chairman of the Governing Body of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Manjur Kader, Vice-chancellor of Green University Prof Dr M Golam Samdani Fakir and Chairman of ATN Bangla Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, President of Sonali Otit Club Khurshid Alam Babul and Tournament Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Aslam will also present on the occasion.A total 20 university teams, split into four group will participate in the tournament. Later four group champions will play in the semifinals.Participating teams are: Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, BRAC University, City University, Daffodil International University, DUET, East West University, Far-East International University, Gano University, Independent University Bangladesh, AUBAT, Prime Asia University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sonargaon University, Southern University Chittagong, ULAB, South East University, Stamford University Bangladesh, North South University, Bangladesh University of Textiles and hosts Green University.UNB news agency
