A folklore festival will be held today at Muktar Para Field of Netrokona. Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum, the organiser of the festival has claimed that it would be the first ever of its kind as it will be based on the famous Mymensingh Gitika that was compiled by Dr Dinesh Chandra Sen.
President Md Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the festival as Chief Guest. Prominent folklore researchers from around the globe are expected to participate in the festival.
Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Mustafa Jabbar who is also the president of the organising body, Mymensingh Cultural Forum will be present as special guest. The programme will be held at 2.30pm.
Today’s keynote speaker would be Professor Jatin Sarkar. Rashedul Hassan Shellly, general secretary of Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum will present the welcome speech. Debkanya Sen, great granddaughter of Dr Dinesh Chandra Sen will be present as discussant. Professor Sabuj Koli Sen, Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati University, India will be present as special guest. Also in the list of invited guests would be Md Sajjadul Hasan, secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office; Md Abul Kalam Azad, chief coordinator of SDG at Prime Minister’s Office and more. The second session would start at 4.10pm with cultural programme.
