Jamaat to mark 1st year of Quader Mollah execution

Jamaat-e-Islmai has taken two-day programme to mark the 1st anniversary of execution of party leader Abdul Quader Mollah for war crime charges.
According to programme, the Islmaist party will bring out peaceful processions througout the country on Thursday and Doa Dibosh (prayer day) and distribution of food among orphans and destitute on Friday.Acting secretary general of Jamaat Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the programme through a press release on Wednesday.
He said that Quader Mollah was awarded death sentence on the basis of false allegation of war crimes.
Referring to the recent judgement of the higer court that reviw petition of convict leader was mentanable, he said Quader Mollah was killed by hanging him after rejecting his review petititon.
Quader Mollah is the first person, who was executed on December 12 late night last year for crimes against humanity during the war of liberation in 1971.
Former Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Azam, who was awarded imprisonment ultill death died in prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital on October 23 this year.
Besides, more half a dozen of senior Jamaat leaders have also so far been awarded death penalty by the Internaitonal Crimes Tribunals. – Staff Reporter
