The High Court on Sunday granted six months’ bail to Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel, former Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) president Delwar Hossain and Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal  (SD) president Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel in separate criminal cases.   The cases were filed with different police stations in the capital in connection with vandalism, torching vehicles during hartals and blockades, and May-5 Hefajat-e-Islam disorder at Motijheel Shapla Chattar.   An HC division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the orders after hearing separate bail petitions filed by the accused.   Of the cases filed against them, Sohel secured bail in 9 cases while Jewel in five and Delwar in two cases.   However, it is yet to confirm whether they could be freed from incarceration after securing bails on Sunday.   Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain assisted by Masud Rana appeared for Sohel and Jewel while advocate Tajul Islam represented Delwar during the hearing.   Earlier, on April 6, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka sent Sohel facing several criminal cases to jail while Jewel has been in police custody since he was arrested from Uttara on December 6.   Detectives arrested Delwar from the capital’s Shymoli area on March 31 last year. – UNB
