An alleged member of banned Islamic outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was shot to death by unidentified miscreants at Mamudpur village in Saghata upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Fazle Rabbi, son of Sadikas Ali, a resident of Basantapara in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Saghata Police Station Rafiqul Islam said a gang of miscreants swooped on Rabbi at the village while he was returning home from Jumarbari Bazar.
Later, the attackers sprayed him with bullets, leaving him critically injured.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rushed in and took him to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later.
Police arrested a man named Enayet Ullah in connection with the killing.
Police said Rabbi might have been killed over internal conflict of JMB, the OC added.
