JnU demand strong punishment of Tanu’s killers

The teachers and students of the Jagannath University formed a human chain in front of the university liberation war sculpture on Thursday and demanded capital punishment to Tanu’s killing.The human chain was formed under the banner of the ‘Students Welfare Association of Commilla Zilla, JnU’ led by Zahirul Islam Raj and Ashraful Islam.

JnU Teachers Association President Professor Dr Kazi Saifuddin, Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture Department Abu Salah Sekander, JnU Chief Engineer Sukumer Chandra Saha spoke in the programme.

They expressed deep concern over the security of cantonment area. They also urged the authority to conduct a proper investigation into the killing and ensure capital punishment of the killers.

Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) of Jagannath University unit brought out a silent protest procession and formed a separate human chain in this regard on the campus. JnU SCF President Mehrab Azad and General Secretary Kishor Kumar addressed the rally.

Suhagi Jahan Tonu, a student and cultural activist of Comilla Victoria College and also an activist of the college theatre, was killed by some unidentified miscreants in Olipur, a restricted area of Comilla Cantonment last week.
