JnU students announce strike for Tuesday, Wednesday


Keraniganj: Jagannath University students on Monday announced to observe a two-day strike from Tuesday to press home their demand for constructing residential halls for them on the empty space of recently abandoned Dhaka Central Jail.
Raisul Islam Nayan, a student of the university and also a leader of the movement, made the announcement at a press conference held on the campus at noon. UNB News Agency Reported.

Taking to UNB, Suvrato, another student of the university, said they will observe their strike from 8am to 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday to press for their demand, adding that if the government failed to take any step to meet their demands by 4pm on Wednesday, they will announce tougher programmes on the day.
They will also hold a sit-in programme on the campus, Suvrato said.
At least 10 JnU students were injured as police fired teargas shells at Bangshal thana intersection in the morning to foil an attempt of JnU students to move towards the Prime Minister’s office for submitting a memorandum there.
