Journalists assaulted at BAU Vice-Chancellor’s office

Mymensingh, Sept 17 – The Officers’ association members of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) went wild at the Vice-Chancellor office in front of Vice-Chancellor on Monday. Journalists were harassed while capturing photos in camera at that time.
Sources said, on Monday at 12:30 pm, officers association leaders and members went to BAU VC secretariat demanding some of their points while a pre-schedule meeting was going with the journalists. About 30 members of officers’ association made an altercation with the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, register, proctor. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jasimuddin Khan wanted to pacify them saying for a sit on with the officer’s leaders but BAU extension center assistant director Mohammad Abul basher Amzad, deputy librarian Md Khairul Alam Nannu, sports training assistant director Mohammad Mostain kabir rush to charge him. In the meantime, officers’ association members brawled with each other.
While capturing photos, officers’ association joint secreatary Jiaul Haque Titu, sports training assistant director Mohammad Mostain kabir, extension center assistant director Mohammad Abul bashar Amzad, establishment section assistant register Mohammad Ashikul Alam, Anatomy and histology department section officer Mehedi Hasan Rasel wanted to snatch camera from the journalists and pressurized then for deleting photos.
BAU Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jasimuddin Khan said, I told officers association leaders for talk and other members for substantiating. But they misbehaved with me. This behaviour is illegal in front of the university’s top guardian.
BAU Proctor Prof Dr Atikur Rahman Khokhon said that, next step will be taken after taking a decision.
BAU officers’ association president Arif Jahangir said that, we went to Vice-Chancellor secretariat to discuss legal demands. We are extremely sorry for misbehaving with journalists. Next time this situation will not happen.
BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Ali Akbar said that, demands from different sections will be fulfilled in a systematic way. But this type of behaviour is not desirable.
