JU journos boycott BCL news protesting abuse

Savar – The journalists, at work in Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus, announced a boycott of all news related to Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit.The decision came from an emergency meeting, held at the JU Journalists’ Association (JUJA) office on Wednesday evening, the secretary of the association, Shoriful Kabir Shamim, said.
He said, ‘Hamza Rahman Antor, the vice-president of JU BCL, has directly and on facebook, the social medium, been making foul remarks about the journalists and the general students. Earlier, he abused one former president of JUJA and some former students of the university on facebook’.
Following his such rude activities, the journalists asked the unit BCL to take organizational move against him. But no step is noticed though the stipulated time expires. In this connection, the journalists took the decision which will remain in force unless organizational discipline is imposed on him.
Apart from these, he makes irrelevant comments about the journalists at different quarters. Earlier, he threatened the vice-president of JUJA over news publishing on his racketeering.
A show-cause notice was served on the accused. But his such activities yet to be terminated. He is follower of Abu Sufian Chanchal, secretary of JU BCL. – JU Correspondent
