JU VC to take initiative for terrorists’ trail


Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Jahangirangar University (JU) Prof Farzana Islam yesterday announced to take initiative immediately after facing movement against Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) of JU unit activist who were involved in beating Shafiqul Islam, the university correspondent of bdnews34.com.Therefore, the VC called a meeting of University Disciplinary Board on October 20 while on Oct 21 an emergency syndicate meeting will be held, said Syndicate member Prof Shahedur Rashid of Geography and Environment department.
On Monday about 7:00am University Journalists blockade University Administrative building which announced earlier of two day long blockade programme and continued till 10am since VC’s declaration. While, the blockade movement ran peacefully and no officials and employees were allowed to entered the office.
‘We are optimistic about JU authority in the case of our demand. We will withdraw our blockade if the authority took initiative for justice’, said Belal Hossain, President of JU Journalist’s Association (JUJA).
Earlier, the university authority suspended temporarily 3 BCL men forming a 5 member probe committee while JU BCL unit suspended its leader Mohitosh Roy Titu, religion affair secretary in this connection.
On August 20, though the probe committee had submitted report to VC Farzana Islam, she did not take any action against perpetrators.
Mentionable, on June 8, some 10-12 BCL leaders and activists beat up Shafiqul Islam, when he tried to rescue a young woman from an alleged abductor, according to witnesses.-JU Correspondent
