Juba Dal leader’s body found in Laxmipur

Police have recovered the bullet-ridden body of a Juba Dal leader in Laxmipur Sadar two days after he was picked up from Dhaka’s Uttara by a group of people claiming to be from security forces.

Md Shamsul Islam Solaiman, a businessman in Dhaka, was joint general secretary of the BNP youth affiliate’s Laxmipur district chapter.
Locals spotted Solaiman’s body in sluice gate area in Charshahi union on Saturday morning and informed the police, Daser Haat police outpost in-charge Mozammel Hossain said.
His wife Salma Islam alleged that her husband was whisked away in a microbus by plainclothes men at gunpoint from a market in Uttara on Thursday night.
She said they filed a general diary at the Uttara Police Station on Friday after failing to trace him in the RAB-1 office.
Solaiman was wanted in several cases at Lakshmipur Police Station, Hossain said.
The body was sent to the Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. -bdnews24.com
