Kamal expects record ADP implementation in FY18


Planning Minister AHM Muftafa Kamal yesterday expected a record implementation of Annual Development Programme (ADP) in fiscal year 2017-18 if the economic activities are not affected by any natural disaster.

“The Tk 1, 64,085 ADP will absolutely be implemented . . . we will be able to achieve the target if there is no natural disaster. There is of lack of finance earlier but we are not facing such problem . . . there is also enough manpower,” he told reporters after a review meeting on the implementation progress of the ADP at NEC conference room here.

Planning secretary Md Ziaul Hasan and secretary of the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) Md Mofizul Islam and members of the planning commission were present.

The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of 85 ADP projects with allocation of Tk 350 crore and above, which are now under-implementation of 24 ministries and divisions and the total allocation for these 86 projects is Tk 98,208 crore that is 57 percent of the total ADP allocation for FY18.

A total of Tk 23,000 crore or 18 percent of the total allocation of these projects were spent during July-October period.

Mentioning different government’s measures for speeding up the implementation of ADP, Kamal said coordinated measures have been taken to appoint project directors (PD) and now there is one PD for one project.

“Steps have also been taken to ensure the implementation quality of the projects”, he added.

Kamal said overall implementation has been increased in the current fiscal (FY18). During the July-October period, the rate of implementation was 14.51 percent whereas it was 13.06 percent during the same period of FY17, he said.

Replying to a question planning minister said construction of the Padma bridge is progressing fast and hoped that it will be completed within the stipulated time, reports BSS.
