Keraniganj OC closed on corruption charges


The officer-in-charge (OC) of Keraniganj Model Police Station was closed on Monday on allegations of corruption and irregularities harassing local people in different ways.The accused was identified as Mohammad Majibar Rahman, OC of the police station.The OC was closed to Dhaka police lines following an order of Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman of the district.Singra, Gurudaspur UZ polls underway peacefully UNB, Natore,Voting for Singra and Gurudaspur upazilas in the district is underway peacefully on Tuesday.The polling began at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm without any break.The voter turnout was less in the morning.Sources said in the upazilas, there was no incident of violence over the election in the first hours of balloting.Nine candidates are contesting the election against two posts in the upazilas.Of them, four are battling for the chairman post in Singra upazila and five for vice chairman (male) post in Gurudaspur upazila.State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak cast his vote at Gol-e Afroz Government College at about 9:30 am.The election is being held as the post fell vacant following the death of Singra Upazila Chairman Abul Kalam Azad on August 23.UNB, Keraniganj
