Dhaka – BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has returned home after performing the holy Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
A large number of party supporters, activists and leaders welcome the BNP chief standing on two sides of the road from the airport to Kuril Biswa road on her way home at Gulshan.The former premier arrived at Hazarat Shajalal International Airport by a Emirates Airlines flight at about 5:10pm, confirmed chairperson’s media wing officer.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Abdullah Al Noman and Mohammed Shajahan, among others, were present at the airport to receive the party chairperson.
After completion of immigration formalities, she left the airport for her home at Gulshan at 5:25pm. She was given VIP security by police and chairperson’s security force (CSF) escorted her on her way to home.
Khaleda went to Saudi Arabia on September 7 at the invitation of the Saudi King to perform the Hajj.
Her family members including elder son and party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman also joined her in Saudi Arabia from London and performed the Hajj.
The BNP chairperson along with her family members left Medina by a same flight and took a connecting flight from Dubai to Dhaka while her family members went to London by another connecting flight.
Abdul Awal Mintoo, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Khairul Kabir Khokan, Mojibur Rahman Sarwar and Shirin Sultana were also present on the occasion.
Police did not allow BNP leaders, activists and supporters to enter the airport on security ground and they were obstructed at the airport road intersection. Some BNP leaders also were locked in arguments with law enforcers as they were barred from entering the airport. – Staff Reporter
