Khaleda conspired to kill me: Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has once again blamed her political opponent Khaleda Zia for the 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League
rally that killed two dozen workers and leaders of the party.
“The BNP leader (Khaleda Zia) does not want to see me living. That’s why she had conspired to kill me by launching the grenade attack on
August 21, 2004, with the help of a member of her cabinet and her son,” Hasina told Awami League workers from various districts on
Thursday.
The meeting was convened to discuss nomination of party candidates for the next general election.
The opposition leader’s son Tarique Rahman and several ministers, including the former Home Minister Lutfozzaman Babar, have been
accused of involvement in the grenade attack.
BNP claims Khaleda’s son was falsely implicated in the case.
“She (Khaleda) observes fake birthday on August 15. Her date of birth according to her school certificate is Sept 5. But the passport she
had acquired after Ziaur Rahman became the President had a different date of birth. In the CV she produced after becoming the Prime
Minister again has another date of birth,” said Hasina.
The Aug 15 birth day of Khaleda coincides with the day Bangabadnhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed along with his most of the family
members.
“She (Khaleda) has been observing this birth day (Aug 15) since ’93.
She celebrates the day we mourn,” said Hasina.
“She (Khaleda) is burning people alive. She is on the side of the defeated forces.”
Hasina also hoped to complete the war crimes trial if she comes back to power.
“I believe we will free the nation of its stigma by completing the war crimes trial.”
She said Khaleda has taken the side of those who had committed genocide.
“The war crimes trial was stopped after Bangabandhu was killed along with his family members. Ziaur Rahman rehabilitated the allies of the
defeated forces by making them Prime Minister, Minister and Adviser.
And he (Zia) rewarded Bangabandhu’s killers by appointing them as ambassadors,” said Hasina.
She urged her party activists to make people alert of BNP’s campaign by misusing religion. She advised them to highlight the development
carried out under the incumbent government.
AL activists from Rajshahi, Shariatpur, Natore, Narsingdi, Jhenidah and Satkhira were called for the meeting with party’s President Sheikh
Hasina at her government residence, Ganabhaban. – bdnews24.com
