Khaleda met with her family members in KSA


BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday met her elder son Tarique Rahman and younger son late Arafat Rahman Koko’s family members in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to information received from the KSA.It was an emotional reunification between the former premier and her elder her son and other family members after a year.
The BNP chairperson has been separated from most of her family members after the arrest of her two sons and also herself after the 1/11 changeover.
She reached Jeddah King Abdul Aziz International Airport at 10:50pm (local time) on Wednesday to perform the holy Hajj at the invitation of the Saudi King, said party sources.
Chief executive of Royal Protocol and local BNP leaders received Khaleda Zia at the airport. Huge number of BNP leaders and activists also gathered outside the airport to welcome their leader.
Western Saudi Arab BNP president Ahmed Ali Mukib and chief adviser Abdur Rahman, among others, welcomed Khaleda by offering banquets. Later, she was taken to Royal Place from the airport.
Meanwhile, BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman along with his family members reached Saudi Arabia at 9:50am (local time) yesterday.
The other family members are—Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr Zobaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, Koko’s wife Sharmili Rahman and her two daughters.
They were also taken to Royal Place where Khaleda met them.
The BNP chairperson along with her family members reached Makkah Al Mukarramah yesterday afternoon and took part in Tawaf at holy Kaaba Sharif.
BNP chairperson’s adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury, BNP ICT affairs secretary Sharif Shah Kamal Taj, Khaleda’s private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, personal photographer Nooruddin Ahmed and land lady Fatema Begum accompanied her.
The BNP chairperson left Dhaka on Wednesday on a 22-day tour to Saudi Arabia. She is likely to return home on September 29.-STAFF REPORTER
