Minister for Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor said here today that those who killed pro-independence forces bloggers of free-thinking and secular politics would be brought to justice.”Politicians do politics for welfare of the commoners but BNP-Jamaat combine killed common people including bus helpers and rickshaw-pullers by setting them on fire in the name of politics. We should come out of such heinous politics,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the 43rd founding anniversary function of Awami Juba League at the Shaheed Minar in the town.
The Awami League (AL) leader said that the economic backbone of the country was shattered by plundering public money and unleasing a reign of terror through emergence of militancy in Bangladesh instead of pursuing the politics of progress and development during BNP-Jamaat rule from 2001 to 2008.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the responsibility of steering the country towards progress when Bangladesh was on the verge of collapse and now the country is heading towards development and prosperity under her capable and visionary leadership. The country has emerged as a role model of economic emancipation in the comity of nations,” Asaduzzaman Noor said.”We have to retain our position in the global stage at any cost defeating all the conspiracies of BNP-Jamaat combine,” he said.District Awami Juba League (AJL) president Advocate Ramendra Bardhan Bapi chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by District Awami League president Dewan Kamal Ahmed, general secretary Mamtajul Haq, Sadar Upazila AL president Advocate Alimuddin Basunia, general secretary Abujar Rahman, poura AL president Mosfiqul Islam Rintu and District AJL general secretary Shaheed Mahmud.Later, a procession was brought out in the town.
