Killing people in ‘crossfire’ sign of govt’s collapse: Hannan Shah


BNP standing committee member Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah on Saturday described the killing of people in the name of “crossfire” as the sign of collapse of the government.
“It indicates the collapse of the government begins as the way it is killing people including its own party men in the name of crossfire,” he said while addressing a discussion meeting at Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, auditorium.
Ahead of fall, the BNP leader said, people used to make irrelevant comments and now the ruling Awami League has started making such comments seeking prayer for their farewell.Jatiyatabadi Secchasebok Dal, a front organisaiton of the opposition, BNP organised the meeting to mark its 35th founding anniversary.
Criticizing the government for killing people in the name of “crossfire” Hannan Shah said the BNP does not support such extrajudicial killings.
He further said the present government would have to face the consequence like Bhutto was hanged in Pakistan on charge of extrajudicial killing.
“You (government) is killing people overlooking the judiciary,” he claimed.
The BNP leader accused the government of violating the constitution and the law of the land by not allowing the opposition and civil society people to hold rallies and meetings.
He called upon the youth to play their active role in the movement.
Hannan Shah also criticized the ruling party men for extortion in the name of mourning day.
President of Secchasebok Dal Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, general secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Sapu could not attend the function as they are on run to avoid the police arrest.
Presided over by Monir Hossain, vice-president of the organisaiton, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Habibur Rahman Habib. – Staff Repoorter
