Dhaka – Bangladeshi Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman shared the 3rd slot with 14 other players in the 3rd Kolkata International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament’2018 securing five points after the 7th round matches in Kolkata on Sunday.Fide Master Khondakar Aminul Islam followed Zia bagging 4.5 points,Three Bangladeshi players –IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed and FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman–collected four points each while three other players–IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag collected three points each.

CM SM Sharon, CM Sohel Chowdhury and Anisuzzaman Jewel earned 2.5 points each, CM Chanchal Kumar Ghosh and Mokaddesur Rahman Khan earned 2 points each, WIM Rani Hamid and Tahsin Tajwar Zia secured 1.5 points each after 7th round encounters.

In the 7th round, GM Zia beat WGM Mary Ann Gomes of India, FM Amin drew with GM Vishnu Prasanna of India, IM Shakil drew with IM CRG Krishna of India, FM Nasir lost to GM Abhijit Gupta of India. FM Mahfuz drew with IM Sidhant Mohapatra of India, FM Fahad lost to Aaryan Varshney of India, IM Minhaz drew with WFM Bidhar Rutumbara of India, CM Sharon lost to WIM Thipsay Bagyashree Sathe of India, FM Parag beat Shrutarshi Ray of India, CM Sohel lost to Rajarshi Dutta of India, CM Chanchal lost to Gandhi Anish of India, Jewel drew with Kavinda Akali of Sri Lanka, WIM Rani Hamid lost to Soundarya Kumar Pradhan of India, Mokaddes drew with Wairagade Khush of India while Tahsin lost to Harshita Guddanti of India.UNB
