Students, teachers and staff of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) will celebrate its 13th founding anniversary today.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to attend the function as the chief guest.
The university authorities have chalked out daylong programmes
to celebrate the day.
The programmes include hoisting of national and university flags, bringing out procession, holding discussion, innovative projects exhibition, technical papers presentation, inauguration ceremony of newly built dormitory, opening laboratories of different departments, charity football match, doa mahfil and cultural events.
The key buildings of the university will be decorated with colourful lights on the occasion.
In 1967, the institution was established as Khulna Engineering College on 101 acres of land but the academic activities started on June 3 in 1974, with 120 students under three departments at the special direction of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
However, it was upgraded as Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) in 1986 and was converted to Khulna University of Engineering & Technology in September 1, 2003.
Now, the university has about 4,200 students and 295 teachers in 16 departments under three faculties, two research institutes and seven dormitories.
