A Supreme Court lawyer has served legal notice on Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and acting Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed to take legal action against those who made public the contents of telephonic conversation between Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina and Opposition leader Khaleda Zia. Supreme Court lawyer SM Julfikar Ali on Thursday served the legal notice. It was mentioned in the notice that if action is not taken against the persons responsible within 30 days of serving the notice a writ will be filed with the High Court seeking legal action against the officers concerned of the government departments. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia talked to each other over telephone for 37 minutes on October 26. Their talk was on important national issues”, the notice read. It said recently some media, facebook and other social media made public the contents of the conversation without permission from the Ministry concerned which created debate among the general people over the conversation and a vested quarter is trying to create anarchy in the country through creating division among people. “It is a punishable offence under the present Information and Communication Technology Act,” the notice added. – UNB
