Low over bay intensifies into depression


The well marked low over east central bay and adjoining area intensified into a depression over the same area (near lat 13.50 n and long 88.50e).It is likely to intensify further. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre, a marine warning of Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.

It was centred at 12:00 noon today (October 21) about 1035 kms south-southwest of Chittagong port, 965 kms south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1005 kms south of Mongla port and 965 kms south of Payra port, the met office added.Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one.All fishing boats and trawllers are advised not to venture into the deep sea.Weather is likely to remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.According to a forecast met office, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.The outlook for next 72 hrs shows little change.
