One of her most successful films, Raat Aur Din which was released in 1967, is currently being considered for a remake
Nargis Dutt was born as Fatima Rashid but later became popular by her screen name and is often considered as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Hindi cinema. The artist has appeared in numerous films which were both commercially and critically acclaimed.
One of her most successful films, Raat Aur Din which was released in 1967, is currently being considered for a remake. According to SpotboyE’s report, celebrated director-duo Abbas-Mustan will be directing the film and have picked former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the role previously played by the legendary actress.
However, other reports suggest that the production house wanted to cast Dhak Dhak star Madhuri Dixit for the role. Speculations are rife that it was Abbas-Mustan, whose pick was finally considered fit for the role. No official comment has been made regarding the matter as of now.
Raat Aur Din revolves around the story of a married woman named Varuna, who suffers from multiple personality disorder. By day, she is a typical Indian homemaker, but at night she walks the streets of Kolkata listening to loud music and dancing in clubs, calling herself Peggy. Nargis’ performance in the film was widely appreciated and helped her bag a National Film Award for Best Actor, becoming the first actress to win in this category.
