Dhaka – A Speedy Trial Tribunal here on Sunday sentenced a man to death for killing his sister-in-law in capital’s Pallabi area in 2013 over family feud.The condemned convict is Rabbi Hossain Mona, 34, son of Ismail Hossain of a refugee camp of the area.According to the prosecution, Sayera Khatun Alo, who worked as a seamstress, used to live in a rented home with her husband Sohel in the area. Her brother-in-law Rabbi lived in the same house.The unemployed Rabbi often quarreled with his sister-in-law as he had no income.On September 6, 2013, Sayera along with Rabbi went out from the house with Tk 20,000 to repay a loan on a gold necklace.Following a previous plan, Rabbi stabbed Sayera to death in front of Abbas Uddin School of Section-11 under Pallabi thana.Later, Sayera’s brother Shahjalal filed a case accusing Rabbi with Pallabi Police Station. Rabbi confessed the murder before the court.Abdul Baten, sub-inspector of the police station, and also investigation officer of the case submitted chargesheet on April 30, 2014 and the court indicted Rabbi on July 15 of the same year.After examining all the records and seven witnesses, Abdul Rahman Sardar, judge of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, handed down the verdict.UNB news agency
