Mangroves For the Future regional meet begins at Cox’s Bazar


Dhaka – A two-day international conference of 13th Regional Steering Committee meeting of environmental group Mangroves For the Future (MFF) began at Sayeman Beach Resort in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, UNB news agency reported.
Environment and Forests Ministry and Mangroves For the Future (MFF) jointly organised the two-day meeting with participation of delegations from eleven countries including Bangladesh.Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was present as the chief guest of the event while Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju was present as a special guest.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said “We should go forward in development activities by keeping nature alive for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and for this we need global and regional coordination.”
Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju said the government is working for environmental conservation in order to prevent natural disasters from the effects of climate change.
Chief of MFF International Coordinating team, member countries of the organisation Cambodia, India, Pakistan, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam and Bangladesh took part in the conference while China participates as part of the group’s outreach.
