‘Mastermind’ held – forensic test prove gang-rape positive


Police have arrested the mastermind of the gang rape of a young woman at her relative’s house in the city’s Rampura area.
The arrestee was identified as Nayem, 20, a resident of Rampura area.
Tipped off, a team of Rampura Police Station launched a drive in West Rampura around 7:30pm and arrested Nayem, sources at the police station said. Mwanwhile, doctors at the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a test found the evidence of rape of the female police constable.
Sources at the OCC of the DMCH confirmed it saying that they already received the forensic test report on Tuesday. However, the sources did not elaborate whether the test report found evidence of ‘gang rape’ or only rape.The victim was underwent forensic test on June 13 by the forensic experts of the DMCH.
The 24-year-old police constable of Turag Police station was reportedly gang-raped allegedly by her ex-husband ASI Kalimur Rahman and his five associates in a house of Khilgaon area in the city on June 11.
She lodged a complained with Khilgaon police station on June 13 in this regard. Later, she was also admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical Centre in the same time.
Contacted, Officer-in-charge of Khilgaon police station Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan said they are yet to receive the report from the OCC. But we are informed that the OCC already received the forensic test report. We hope, we will get it tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
The OC also said that the victim has already recorded his statement under Section 22 of Women and children repression Act 2000 before a court on Tuesday.
Victim’s ex-husband has been remained absconding since the female constable lodged the complain with the Khilgaon police station.
In her complained, the victim mentioned that she and her husband ASI Kalimur Rahman separated one year ago following a family feud. The couple had a daughter during their divorce. – News Desk
