Mayor Jhantu seeks media cooperation in building beautiful city


Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu today sought cooperation as well as constructive criticisms from the mass media in building a beautiful and modern Rangpur city.”The media representatives can effectively focus the local problems, needs and prospects to bring the same to notice of the government as well as RCC authorities for resolving those to accelerate infrastructural developments in the city,” he said.Jhantu, also a valiant freedom fighter, said this while addressing a discussion arranged at RCCI auditorium in the city in observance of the third founding anniversary of SA Television (SA TV) as the chief guest.President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce a and Industry (RCCI) Abul Kashem, Deputy Managing Director of Rangpur Group Ashraful Alam Al- Amin, Organising Secretary of district Awami League Alhaj Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, President of district Chatra League Mehedee Hassan Rony, General Secretary of Rangpur Press Club Ali Ashraf, Senior Reporter of BSS Mamun Islam, journalists Aftab Hossain (Baishakhi Television), Mahbubul Islam (ATN Bangla) and Liyakat Ali Badal (Ekushey Television) addressed as the special guests.Moderated by Staff Reporter of SA TV Rezaul Islam Babu, a large number of journalists from the print, electronic and online media, leaders of different socio-political, cultural and professional organisations, civil society members and elite attended the function.The chief guest congratulated the authorities, journalists, technicians, officials and employees of SA TV on its third founding anniversary and highly lauded the popular satellite channel for casting impartial news and excellent programmes.He called upon the journalists for focusing the local problems impartially and working unitedly in fulfilling hopes and aspirations of the people through ensuring infrastructural development in Rangpur city under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”None can hinder development of Rangpur as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants its development, knows every area of the city, deeply loves Rangpur, works relentlessly for the people and takes instant decisions for development when necessary,” Jhantu said.Later, the City Mayor cut a huge cake along with the other invited guests before leading a massive colourful rally that was brought in the city streets in celebrations of the third founding anniversary of SA TV. (BSS)
